Safety

Built for the walk home you’d rather not take.

Safety isn’t a feature we added. It’s why Varsity Go exists. Here’s what protects you before, during and after every ride.

Before you ride

  • Every rider is checked

Before their first trip, our team checks each rider’s national ID, motorcycle driving licence, a live selfie matched against the ID, and their bike and number plate.

  • Rated after every trip

Passengers rate every ride and can flag problems like unsafe riding. Low ratings and flags are reviewed by a person, and riders can be paused while we look into it.

  • No cash, no arguments

Prices are fixed before you book and payment goes through M-Pesa, so there’s nothing to argue about at the gate.

During the ride

  • Trip PIN

Only you can see your 4-digit PIN. The rider has to enter it to start the trip, so you know you’re on the right bike.

  • Share your trip

Send a live link to a friend or family member. They see the bike on the map, the rider’s name and plate, and where you’re going, until shortly after you arrive.

  • SOS

One tap alerts our safety team with your live location and trip details, and texts your trusted contacts. You get three seconds to undo an accidental tap.

  • Call 999

The SOS screen also has a one-tap button to call Kenya’s emergency number, 999.

Trusted contacts

Add the people you’d want to know if something went wrong. If you press SOS, they get an SMS straight away with a live link to your trip. You choose who they are, and you can change them any time in the app.

After the ride

Rate your rider and tell us what went well or what didn’t. Anything flagged as unsafe, rude or the wrong route goes to our team, not into an algorithm.

If something happened that we should know about, contact us from the app or at [email protected]. For emergencies, always call 999 first.

Your next ride is a tap away.

We’re launching around Maseno soon. Leave your number and we’ll text you the day the app is ready.
